The Pablo Neruda chapter of the National Spanish Honor Society (Sociedad Honorífica Hispánica) has been operated for many years at Bonny Eagle High School.
Students who have excelled in the study of Spanish and show a strong interest in the language and cultures of Spanish speaking countries are welcome to join. Minimum requirements include an overall B average, and a B average in Spanish classes. Students are eligible when they have enrolled in the Spanish 2 series of classes.
Students who do not meet the requirements for the Honor Society, are welcome to join the Spanish Club. The Club and Honor Society meet together and cooperate on activities. Club members are often students in their freshmen year at BEHS, or students who have delayed taking Spanish 2.
Honor Society members are encouraged to discover and develop their interests in Spanish, and lead activities that interest them. All activities have been chosen by students, organized by students, and led by students.
In 2015-16, the Honor Society meets in room 209 twice weekly. First, on Tuesday mornings at 7:10. Second, on Thursdayafternoons at 2:00. If you are unable to attend a meeting, please contact Mr. Rice or an officer to share your input and keep up to date.
Members must participate in 75% of meetings during a trimester to remain active. Connecting with Mr. Rice or an executive can count for attendance.
